County continues additional mortgage tax

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua County’s additional tax on mortgages is going to continue.

During the recent county legislature meeting, county lawmakers voted in favor of a local law to add an additional 25 cents on every $100 of a mortgage on real property situated within Chautauqua County.

During the full legislature meeting, no one spoke about the legislation. During earlier committee meetings, county attorney Stephen Abdella said they’ve had this additional mortgage taxes in place for several years. It has to be renewed every two to three years.

The local law was unanimously adopted.
