GOWANDA — United Way of Cattaraugus County recently presented a $750 grant — titled the Fraser Grant — to the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Department. The grant is to be used for the purchase of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for those who need one in the Village of Gowanda.

In addition to the Fraser Grants, the United Way of Cattaraugus County currently funds 18 programs at 15 area organizations through its allocations process. One out of every four residents living in Cattaraugus County participates in a United Way funded program and, as a result, has an improved quality of life. This is all thanks to compassionate people and companies that donate to the United Way campaign each year.
