Westfield Hospital Foundation welcomes new board member

D. K. Hocking

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation recently welcomed Daniel K. Hocking to its board of directors.

The son of missionary parents, Hocking was born and raised in Bangui, Central African Republic. He graduated from the Ubangui Academy in 1976 and earned a BA in speech communication in 1980 from Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.

Prior to moving to New York, Hocking was a Floridian from 1980 to 1991. Hocking was a partner with the commodity firm, American Bullion & Coin and he and his wife, Beth, also owned Deerfield Travel Agency located in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

The travel agency was sold in 1991 and shortly thereafter Hocking and his family moved to Jamestown.

Currently, Hocking is a partner with Joseph Cerrie at First Affiliated of the Chautauqua County clearing through NewEdge Securities (formerly Mid Atlantic Capital). Prior to joining Mid Atlantic Capital, Hocking was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch, later joining Bodell, Overcash and Anderson.

In July of 2010, Dan and Beth purchased the property, building and business – ACME the Appliance store, located in Jamestown.

The Hockings have two children, Kyle (Courtney) and Kacey, and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Deanna Hocking. After selling their residence in Jamestown, where they resided for 29 years, they moved to Westfield.

Hocking was a 25-year member of the Falconer Rotary Club and a member for more than 20 years of Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown.

“I was pleased when I was invited to join the WMH Foundation Board as I believe our local hospital is vital for the safety and well-being of all county residents. I am proud to be part of the hospital and the foundation’s commitment to excellence by providing state-of-the-art equipment and quality service to those who are in need of medical care. Not having to travel out of town for essential healthcare is an added bonus and one of the many reasons we chose this charming community to reside in,” Hocking. said. “The foundation’s important mission to work with the hospital to provide financial support for the delivery of high quality healthcare, is one that resonates with both myself and Beth. I look forward to being able to help in moving this critical mission forward.”

WMHF Executive Director Patricia DiPalma said she and members of the WMH Foundation Board welcome Dan Hocking and look forward to working together for many years to come.

“I believe Hocking’s fundraising experience coupled with his extensive investment/business background will bode well in his new role on the hospital Foundation board of directors,” she said.
