Silver Creek raises over $7,000 for Polar Plunge

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Central School District’s Unified Team has been involved in the annual Polar Plunge event for multiple years. This year is no different, as SCCS Unified has raised a substantial amount of money for Special Olympics New York.

As of Thursday morning, SCCS has raised more than $7,000 as a team. Individually, eight different participants have raised $250 or more, led by $1,380 raised by Julie Decker.

Also among the top SCCS participants as of Thursday morning were Marissa Grisanti, $750; Katie Gard, $610; Ella Austin, $350; Troy Cooper, $305; Janet Decker, $300; Stephanie VanCheri, $290; and Emily Bowers, $250.

SCCS also ranked near the top of schools in fundraising for the event a year ago, once again led by Decker. Silver Creek raised more than $8,000 at last year’s event and Decker was the third-highest fundraising female student to participate in the event, according to the district.
