Gowanda man charged in Jamestown accident
JAMESTOWN — A Gowanda man is facing second-degree vehicular assault charges after a victim in the accident was reported with potentially life-threatening injuries.
At about 12:37 p.m. Friday, Jamestown police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at Hazeltine Avenue and Colfax Street. Upon arrival, officers called for emergency medical attention for the injured driver, who required transport to the UPMC Chautauqua Hospital for more extensive treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the other driver involved in the crash, 23-year-old Matthew K. Kruszka, had been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Kruszka was subsequently arrested and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he submitted to a chemical breath test. The test indicated that he had a blood alcohol concentration of nearly twice the legal limit.
Kruszka also was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated per se. He was being held at the city jail pending arraignment.
