Teen charged after threat on social media

ANGOLA — A 15-year-old has been charged in connection with a threat made on social media regarding Lake Shore Central School District.

Town of Evans Police report the district took quick action and placed the high school and William G. Houston Middle School on a shelter in place status while the post was investigated. The post was done Thursday and brought to the attention of staff at the middle school by students upon their arrival Friday.

The juvenile, whose name was not released, does not reside in the Lake Shore district. The youth and parents have been interviewed and are cooperating in the investigation. The case will be handled by Family Court.

In a news release, the town of Evans Police commended the “students who originally reported the post to school officials or cooperated with the investigation.” In addition, the department thanked the district, other districts and outside agencies for the assistance.
