Pomfret hires two, boosts pay for four
The Pomfret Town Board gave raises to four employees and hired two people for the new Lily Dale Water District this month.
Two court clerks, the cemetery labor supervisor and a deputy inspection officer are getting raises. The clerks are going from $17.82 an hour to $18.38 and $16.25 per hour to $16.76. The cemetery worker will receive $16.76 an hour, up from $15.16, and the inspection officer will go from $15 an hour to $16.
Town Supervisor Dan Pacos said the pay rates are getting adjusted based on the state’s recent hike in the minimum wage.
He said Highway Superintendent Jude Gardner sought a raise for the cemetery labor supervisor in the 2023 budget, but didn’t get it. However, that cemetery supervisor “works like a horse,” Pacos said.
The board made the raises retroactive to Jan. 1.
As for the Lily Dale Water District positions, Mike Riforgiato and Leanne Fabrizio were hired. They will get $20 an hour for the part-time jobs.
Their duties will include testing and chlorinating of the water in Lily Dale, Pacos said. The water district will be responsible for their training.
