Holy Trinity brings modern music to Stations of the Cross

Are you someone who finds yourself moved, emotionally or spiritually, by popular music? Are you seeking a local Lenten pilgrimage to center your Lenten experience? Are you looking for a different way to experience the Stations of the Cross, something that will make it evermore present and real?
On Friday, at 7 p.m., Holy Trinity Parish will present the 19th annual Stations of the Cross with live music and reflection from a contemporary perspective. This inspiring event, taking place in the candle-lit church, combines the traditional stations with contemporary songs and a short reflection connecting Christ's final journey to the cross with the challenges we face each day in our world. Sixteen contemporary songs by artists such as Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Josh Groban, Eric Clapton, Our Lady Peace, and others follow each station and reflection. The songs are performed live by a group of Holy Trinity's own musicians and vocalists. The music brings out the human emotion of each station in Jesus' suffering, death and resurrection. This prayerful experience is one of the best devotions you can undertake this Lent.
Each reflection is written in light of living in the 21st century and addresses the issues that affect all of our lives, including dishonesty, forgiveness, hardship and other themes that mirror the original stations of the cross.
Tom Donovan performs lead vocals and narrates the stations. Christina Donovan performs vocals as well as playing the flute, cello, violin and bass guitar. Evonne Hennebery plays keyboard. Marie Sedota performs vocals as well as plays guitar (acoustic and electric), violin, and bass guitar. Nick Siracuse plays the drums. Jane Dickerson narrates the reflections.
This event is free and open to everyone of all ages and faiths. Holy Trinity is located at 1032 Central Ave. in Dunkirk and is handicap accessible.
