Democrats vow to assist in GOP notices

By OBSERVER Staff Report 1 min read

The Chautauqua County Democrats are promising to work with the other side when it comes to posting notices regarding Republican caucuses in the village of Fredonia.

Last week, county party chair Marcia Westling Johnson contacted the OBSERVER regarding the claim of "stolen GOP Caucus notices."

"We all had a good laugh about (the comment) that Democratic voters are 'stealing' her caucus notices," Westling Johnson said.

"We have much better things to do than … steal her caucus notices. We need to help solve our water issue in the village and get the hospital built for our larger northern Chautauqua County community," she said. "We also need to help make our community more family friendly with pedestrian and bicycling improvements to our Main and Temple Streets and Central Avenue and the Central Connection.

Later, she noted, she would assist Melanie Mann, chair of the Fredonia-Pomfret Republicans, with the documents.

"In the spirit of cooperation, I will help Ms. Mann put up her caucus notices - and offer protection," she said.

Starting at /week.
