WESTFIELD -- Marking six very successful months of operation, the Community Clothes Closet of Westfield announces a partnership with the Westfield Women's Organization to present a Shop for Prom day on April 29.
Westfield Women's Organization is urgently soliciting donations of prom wear which can be deposited at the Blue June Blooms florist shop on Main Street in Westfield during any business hours.
On Prom Day the closet will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and gowns dressy shoes and accessories as well as men's jackets and dress shirts will be available at no cost to prom goers. However, any donations will go to the after prom committee. Prom wear will be available at the Closet during regular hours also, at prices ranging from $1 to $3.
Westfield Women's Organization and closet workers are hoping donations of cleaned, lightly used gowns will be equal to the surprisingly high volume and wide variety of high quality clothing they have been receiving from Westfield and surrounding communities during the past six months. A steady stream of customers from the first day of business has also been satisfying. One of the closet managers, Diane Scarpine is "delighted by the response of the community" both in quality of donations and by the steady flow of shoppers.
The Community Clothes Closet is located in the First Presbyterian Church, 49 S Portage in Westfield. In addition to gowns collected at the Blue June Blooms florist shop, donations of clothing are accepted at the Coset during Closet hours on the first and third Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; second and fourth Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.. Donations can also be deposited at the United Methodist Church at 101 E. Main in Westfield on weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
