Dunkirk High School students named to state fellowship program
Two Dunkirk Senior High School students were among 97 seniors from across New York inducted Friday into the state Education Department’s My Brother’s Keeper Fellows.
Octavian Porter and Jordan Torres were inducted at the My Brother’s Keeper Symposium in Albany.
“Octavian and Jordan are such perfect selections for the My Brothers Keeper Fellows Program,” said Secondary School Principal Rebecca Farwell. “As rising seniors, I know they will benefit from the leadership and service opportunities that the program offers.”
Each of the Fellows who will receive mentor relationship opportunities in government, education, and business. They will each get matched with a mentor from a My Brother’s Keeper Community Network partner and given a fellowship opportunity. Each Fellow will also be required to develop and execute a service project related to a My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
“All of us in the Dunkirk City School District are proud of Octavian and Jordan on their induction as My Brothers Keeper Fellows,” said Superintendent Michael Mansfield. “This program continues to expose our young men to authentic opportunities in government, education, and business.”
