Sheridan board meeting postponed

By Braden Carmen 1 min read

SHERIDAN -- After the passing of town Supervisor John Walker II, the Sheridan Town Board will not meet at its regularly scheduled meeting date this evening.

Town Clerk Becky Schafer said with Walker's passing, coupled with other circumstances leaving board members unavailable for the meeting, the Town Board would have been unable to establish a quorum. In postponing the meeting, it not only gives the Town Board the ability to establish a quorum at a later date, but it also provides more time for the members to cope with the loss of their Supervisor.

The Town Board previously scheduled a public hearing regarding the Erie Coast Solar project for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, preceding the regular meeting. Now, both the public hearing and the regular meeting will be rescheduled.

The board plans to convene soon to discuss a time to schedule a special meeting to address both postponements. A potential time for the special meeting could be June 28, which is the halfway point between the postponed date and the next regularly scheduled meeting, set for July 12. More information will be made available at a later date.
