Dunkirk’s Fourth of July celebration, events announced

The three-day Fourth of July Celebration with food/refreshment vendors kicks off in Dunkirk today, with further events on Monday and Tuesday.
The ninth annual Marauder Trotter 5k Run/Walk will take place today at 9 a.m. at Wright Park. Interested participants can sign up that morning before 8:30 p.m.
A new Christmas in July Auction open to the public starts at 10 a.m. sharp to benefit the Dunkirk Free Library.
The Summer Jam on the Ave Youth 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will also take place Saturday beginning at noon on Central Avenue in front of City Hall for fourth through sixth grades and adult divisions.
At dusk, El Rigby Theater will present the “Space Jam” movie in the Central Avenue lot across from City Hall.

On July 3, music will be provided by The Living Room Band (5 p.m.) followed by Midnight Recovery at 7:15 p.m. in Memorial Park. Vendors will open at 3 p.m.
On the Fourth of July, vendors start at 11 a.m. with entertainers Zen City (3 p.m.), Furious George (5:15 p.m.) and The Rising (7:30 p.m.) in Memorial Park.
The night concludes with Starfire Corporations fireworks – the largest fireworks display in Chautauqua County.
Community and business donors help defray the cost of the annual fireworks show.
