Five charged in city drug bust

A two month-long investigation into narcotics sales at 111 Dove St. in Dunkirk has resulted in five city individuals being charged Thursday morning.
Investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and city of Jamestown Police Department executed a search warrant at the address before 5 a.m. Entry was made into the residence by the Dunkirk Police Special Response Team. Located inside the residence at the time of the search warrant was Justin Schuk, 41, Arlena Rivera, 35, Jodi Messere, 44, Draonn Richardson-Copeland, 35, Karen Schuk, 62, and Justin’s young two children. As a result of the search, investigators seized 9.96 grams of fentanyl, 6.91 grams of cocaine, 1.13 grams of crack cocaine, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics, a .22 caliber rifle and $1,451.Justin Schuk, Rivera and Messere were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and first-degree criminal nuisance. Schuk also was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon as he has previously been convicted of a serious offense.
Richardson-Copeland was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally and using drug paraphernalia
Schuk and Rivera also were charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Karen Schuk was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree criminal nuisance. Justin Schuk, Rivera, Richardson-Copeland and Messere were transported to the Dunkirk Police Department where they will be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court. Karen Schuk was released and will be issued appearance tickets. Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call and report suspicious or narcotics related activity within their neighborhoods.
