Village puts thelocks on park bathrooms
Fredonia’s Board of Trustees passed a resolution last week to lock bathrooms in the park, but make them accessible to pavilion renters through a key system. Pavilion users must deposit $25, but get it back if they return the key — and don’t vandalize the bathrooms.
The move was in response to a report by Recreation Director Frankie Sysol at a June trustees’ meeting. She said Russell Joy Park’s restrooms were constantly getting trashed.
Most notably, someone was smearing waste all over one of the bathrooms almost every day — and it usually happened in the morning.
Pavilion renters at Russell Joy will now also have to pay a $25 garbage disposal deposit, according to the resolution passed Monday. They will get the money back if they properly dispose of their trash.
The resolution states that Sysol, or her designee, will decide if deposits are returned.
