Dunkirk schools offer staffing update
Mark Frazier, the Dunkirk City School District’s human resources director, offered an update about school staffing at the latest Board of Education meeting.
“We have one vacancy in art. We have one new position, behavioral specialist, we have two internal bids for that position. Those bids just closed, which may create a vacancy in another area,” Frazier said at the meeting earlier this month session.
“A position was eliminated in the district to fund the behavioral specialist position, which is a great need at this point,” he added.
An intermediate school counselor position is also open. Additionally, elementary education and special education vacancies came up due to recent resignations.
There are also three teacher aide positions vacant.
“We are in the process of setting up interviews or have interviews for all of these positions,” Frazier said.
The Board of Education approved Kristan Mackiewicz as director of special education and Jennifer Sobilo as assistant director of education.
It also hired four teachers: Kendall Carlson (secondary school science), Kevin Leavell Jr. (intermediate school physical education/health), Justin Rokitka (grade 3), and Garrett Stevenson (secondary school social studies).
