Gowanda Hall of Fame celebration Friday
GOWANDA — The Gowanda Boosters Club is proud to announce the 2023 Gowanda Central School Hall of Fame Inductees. The inductees will be honored on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a music and social gathering followed by the induction ceremony at the Gowanda’s Historical Hollywood Theater. This is a free event is open to the public which kicks off Alumni Weekend.
The inductees to be honored are Jon M. Phillips Jr., Sports Legend; Stefanena Kysor, Distinguished Educator, Carson Waterman, Distinguished Alumni and the 2008 Varsity Baseball, Team of Distinction.
Jon M. Phillips Jr., Class of 1990, was a baseball pitcher after High School for St. Bonaventure and the Astros. He is a physical education teacher for Orchard Park Windom Elementary School.
Stefanena Kysor was a Swim/Adult Education Instructor for more than 50 years in the Gowanda community. She has coached and provided instruction to hundreds of local community members.
Carson Waterman, class of 1965, is a Native American artist that has an art gallery in Salamanca and has had his artwork displayed at the Smithsonian Institute, New York State Museum, Tennessee State Museum and several Universities. He recently designed a new logo for the Salamanca School District.
The 2008 Varsity Baseball Team included Christian VanNote, Jake Jolls, Levi Hubbard, Greg Kruszka, Adam Pagan, Dylan Huch, Jordan Pagan, Adam Steves, Sean Mammoser, Jay John, Turner Ashby, Kris Kruszka, John Schott, Dan Cooper, Aaron Benton. Coaches were Head Coach Tim Smith and Assistance Coach Brian Denea. Managers were Cindy Maltbie, Cortney North and Steve Grimm.
