On Saturday, residents of the town of Sheridan gathered to pay respects and hear of the accomplishments of their hometown Congressman Daniel A Reed. Reed was born in Sheridan, and served in the Congress from 1919 to 1959 -- 20 consecutive terms under seven different presidents. Speakers paid tribute to the congressman and told of his impact on our community, and members of the New Horizons Band and the Cassadaga Area Community Band played the Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful. A special award was presented from current U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy commemorating the day in Congress. A reception was held following the ceremony at the Sheridan Historical Society building.
