Save A Life Tour visits city school

The International Save A Life Tour visited Dunkirk Secondary School to present its safe driving program on Tuesday.
The comprehensive, high-impact safe driving awareness program is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and places emphasis on impaired driving, distracted driving, driver experience, improper driver behavior, and seat belt usage.
"Responsible decision making behind the wheel is such an important life skill," said Secondary House Principal Joshua Tedone. "I want to thank the Save A Life Tour for working so hard to teach students about distracted and impaired driving. They are matters of life and death."
With a grant from the New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Program, Ardent Solutions informed and educated using hands-on distracted driving and impaired driving virtual reality driving simulators.
The visit was part of the school district's "Whatever It Takes" initiative, which asks students, caregivers, teachers, neighbors, and business owners to join us to ensure our students' success.
"Our district is committed to social-emotional learning, and our goals are reflective of that," said Superintendent Michael Mansfield.
"We are ready to do whatever it takes to improve outcomes for our students," he continued. "It is imperative that Dunkirk students, staff, families, and community members remain safe."
The presentation also utilized video, interactive demonstrations, pre and post surveys, and takeaways including pledge cards and wristbands.
