Silver Creek commends Festival of Grapes

SILVER CREEK — Even without mechanical rides, the annual Festival of Grapes was deemed a success by the Village Board.

Silver Creek Mayor Jeff Hornburg said of the annual Festival of Grapes held last weekend. “I’m happy that they had it. The people that I talked to were appreciative, although comments were still being made about no mechanical rides. … I think that those down there were appreciative it was there.”

Village Trustee Sandra Lindstrom added, “I want to thank the Grape Festival committee and the volunteers for all they did to make the weekend successful.”

Village Trustee Marv Cummings thanked the village Department of Public Works for its help with the Festival of Grapes. Cummings also stated he has begun scheduling acts for the Music in the Park series in the summer of 2024, and hopes to finalize a schedule before Thanksgiving.

The Village Board also recently approved the purchase and installation of a chain link fence from Paradis Fence for the former Revere Inn property at 240 Central Ave., Silver Creek. The site will be temporarily utilized as a park, while the Planning Board will discuss other options for the site.

Also recently approved was an annual trunk-or-treat event held by the Silver Creek Kiwanis Club from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Halloween night, Tuesday, Oct. 31. The annual parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Hall and will end at the Village Square.

The next mobile food pantry event in the village, sponsored by the Silver Creek Food Pantry, FeedMore of WNY, and the Village of Silver Creek, will be held Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Village Municipal Parking Lot.
