Workshop Thursday addresses city DRI planning
The Local Planning Committee for the City of Dunkirk Downtown Revitalization Initiative will hold its second public workshop on Thursday in the Clarion Hotel Conference Center at 30 Lake Shore Drive East from 5 to 7 p.m.
The agenda for this meeting includes reviewing an overview of the proposed DRI projects submitted during the call for projects and soliciting input from the public. Community members may comment on potential projects by visiting project profile stations throughout the meeting room, speaking with consultant team members, and filling out a project feedback form.
The city of Dunkirk was selected by the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council to receive a $10 million award from New York State through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The investment will allow Dunkirk to develop a strategic investment plan and implement key catalytic projects that advance Dunkirk’s vision for revitalization of its downtown area. Projects selected for DRI funding will transform the neighborhood and support a vibrant local economy.
“We are excited to hear community ideas for revitalizing Dunkirk’s downtown core,” said Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas. “This process is the beginning of a wide range of opportunities for downtown.”
The approximately six-month DRI planning process is guided by a Local Planning Committee of representatives from local government, community organizations, local businesses, and residents. The LPC will continue to meet regularly until the plan is completed in late 2023. The meetings are working sessions for the LPC, but the public is welcome to attend. Time for public comments will be provided at the end of each LPC meeting.
