Jean Crane has announced she is a candidate for a position on the Dunkirk Town Board.
A 45-year town resident, Crane successfully served as town clerk from 2001 to 2021 where she had the pleasure of working with the late town Supervisor Richard Purol. She also retired from a 26-year career at Verizon. In addition, she is the former financial secretary for St. Elizabeth Seton Parish.
As the former clerk, she helped with the establishment of several water districts, creating budgets, updating the zoning law, and updating the personnel handbook. Additionally, she managed the day-to-day operation of the town office including bookkeeping, personnel management and record keeping while maintaining a good rapport with town residents.
"With a new town supervisor coming on board, it will be vitally important to have a council person with a wealth of knowledge and experience," she said.Crane said she looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the Town of Dunkirk community.
