The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Jody Falkner as their new executive director.

A native of Dunkirk and resident of northern Chautauqua County, Falkner has dedicated 30 years of her carer in the non-profit arena working with the YWCA of Western New York, Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, Boys & Girls Club of Northen Chautauqua County and Erie 2-Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES.

In addition to her love for the community, Falkner has 25 years' experience in grant research, writing, and administration. She has secured close to $1.5 million in funding to support youth development and career readiness in Northern Chautauqua County.

"The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County board couldn't be more excited to continue the great work in our community with our new executive director Jody Falkner. She has proven herself as a community and human service powerhouse over her 30-plus year career," said Tyler Gotowka, board president. "Once our executive committee met with her in person, we felt that hiring her was a very easy choice. Jody has big shoes to fill after Adam Dolce finished his tenure at UWNCC, but we know Jody is up to the challenge and has the full support of our board and committee members. Jody has been our new ED for just over a month and we are already seeing the fruits of her labor by making new connections, re-sparking old relationships, and bringing new ideas and methods to fundraising that she has picked up in her very long career in the not-for-profit arena."

The United Way of Northern Chautauqua County's mission is to empower our local community through education, financial stability, and health. Alongside our vital community partners, we provide the gift of literacy to local children, help local taxpayers keep money in their pocket, and provide needed funds to programs that help thousands of people within our community.

Falkner looks forward to collaborating with the community to address the needs of Northern Chautauqua County and will work diligently to bring much needed resources into the community.

"As a passionate advocate and longtime supporter of United Way, I know firsthand the impact United Way has on a community," she said. "I see the need throughout Northern Chautauqua County and understand the importance of diversifying United Way's funding streams, so my priorities include running a successful campaign and thanking the individuals that continue to support our agency, preparing competitive grant proposals, and expanding our board of trustees to be reflective of our community."

The United Way is located at 626 Central Ave., Dunkirk. To learn more about the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, contact Falkner at (716) 366-5424 or jody@unitedwayncc.org or visit www.unitedwayncc.org.
