The Chautauqua County Legislature proclaimed October as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” in the county. Rankin noted that she is a breast cancer survivor herself. “I want to say to those who are struggling, reach out and get some help. We know people who have had it in the past and they’re clear for years and then it comes back, so we especially want to say prayers for them. If you know somebody who is in this situation, reach out and touch them and ask how you can help. I especially encourage everybody to stay up on their exams and their medical progress,” she said.
