Penfold elected director of NYS Magistrates Association

Christopher Penfold

Christopher Penfold, Dunkirk town justice, was elected Oct. 1 to a four-year position of director of the New York State Magistrate’s Association. He is honored to have been selected by the NYSMA board to serve in this position.

Penfold was elected to the bench in the town of Dunkirk in 2000. For the past year, Penfold has been the sole justice in the town due to the passing of his co-judge, the Hon. Robert Hubbard. Penfold has been able to maintain the position alone, supervising two full-time court clerks and two court officers.

All of Penfold’s training will now be paid for by the Magistrate’s Association.

Penfold has also worked the Centralized Arraignment Part in Chautauqua County Jail since its inception.

He has resided in the town of Dunkirk with his wife since 1994. He has worked closely with New York State’s 8th Judicial District, temporarily serving as justice for the town of Sherman.

Penfold and his wife have been actively involved in the town of Dunkirk for nearly 25 years.

Starting at $3.50/week.
