Prevention Works' and the HOPE Chautauqua Coalition are teaming up for the first Prevention Works Pumpkin Party on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 4: to 8 p.m., with the Sensory Sensitive Hour being held from 3 to 4 p.m. The Pumpkin Party will be held at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, in Dunkirk.
This family friendly event will include agency trick or treating, door prizes, face-painting, photo booth, costume contest, games, crafts, food, Halloween movies, music and more! The first 100 Trick-or-Treaters attending will receive a 16-inch LED Foam Glow Stick!
There will be a Halloween Contest for youth every hour for the best dressed costume. The best dressed costume contest will take place at 3:45, 4:45, 5:45, 6:45, and 7:45. One winner will walk away with a bag of prizes each hour!
Organizations from all over the county will be handing out candy. Organizations include the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, The Chautauqua Center, Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene, Girls Scout of WNY, Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, Tobacco Free CCA, YWCA of Jamestown, The Salvation Army, The Resource Center, Healing Communities/Combat Addiction CHQ, Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County and the Chautauqua County Health Department. The Chautauqua County Health Department will have their new mobile unit for participants to check out.
Participants will be given a Halloween passport upon entry and will be stamped at each agency table they visit. Families that go to all agency tables will have a chance to win additional door prizes!
In addition, there will be a kickoff to Red Ribbon week, set to take place Oct. 23 to 31. Students who pledge to stay drug-free and get their pictures taken with a selfie frame will receive a certificate and prize!
This event is being supported by Kosciuszko Club, Lind Funeral Home and all agency partners listed above. Entry to the event is free, however some games and food will be a slight cost, between $1 to $2.
