Sheridan Historical Society presents ‘Love Letters of a Union Soldier’ this Saturday
SHERIDAN — On Saturday afternoon, the Sheridan Historical Society will present “Love Letters of a Union Soldier”, a portrayal by Tina Scherman, of the soldier’s love, “Frant.” Scherman, a member of the Leon Historical Society, in the character of “Frant”, will share some of the letters written by the Union soldier, Edgar Shannon, to the girl he left behind when he joined the 154th NY Volunteers. The presentation will include details provided by civil war era items and visual aids on the battles and situations that Edgar faced and wrote about to Frant.
The presentation will begin at 2 p.m. at the Sheridan Historical Society building at Route 20 and Center Road. Refreshments will be provided afterward.
The presentation is offered free of charge, everyone is invited. Two handmade quilts are being raffled off to benefit the Historical Society and will be on display at the event. The winners will be drawn on election day, Nov. 7 during a bake sale that will be held there that day.
