Yerico running for Ward 2 council seat in city

Abby Yerico

Abby Yerico is running for the Common Council Ward 2 seat in Dunkirk.

“It is with great excitement that I announce my candidacy,” she said. “I am a 15-year resident of the city and I have lived with my family in the Second Ward for seven years.

“I earned both my Associates degree in Business Administration, and my Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies online while working full-time. I am currently employed as the Paralegal to the District Attorney in Mayville. Being a resident of the City and working in public service has given me a comprehensive perspective of our community’s beauty, opportunities, and challenges.

“We must address critical needs that will support you, our residents. We experience many of the same social and economic challenges as other municipalities in our area, including affordable housing, infrastructure, public safety, business revitalization, and establishing an overall sense of inclusion throughout our community. There must be opportunity for younger people to build a future here and for life-long residents to continue to call Dunkirk home. I am committed to working with local leaders, other municipalities, existing resources, and the community to ensure that Dunkirk thrives.

“We have an exciting and unique opportunity to help Dunkirk to continue to grow into a safe, sustainable, and satisfying place to call home. I am running because Dunkirk is ready for leadership that will take a proactive collaborative approach to address our challenges and be loud and proud about our great city.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve our community and ask for your vote in November.”
