Dunkirk city Attorney Michael Bobseine added some clarification to the ongoing street light work taking place.
"Respecting the completion of the streetlighting work, the city has continued to work with National Grid on a cooperative basis," he said.
"The City regrets that Tuesday's Council meeting and Resolution appeared as a 'dispute' between the City and National Grid.
"I take full responsibility for that," said Bobseine. "The City misunderstood the work required to be done to get National Grid's approval after a final inspection.
"Based upon subsequent discussions with National Grid representatives, the City has agreed to extend its performance bond and satisfy National Grid's requirements for approximately 200 specific type of light fixture out of 1500 total fixtures.
"National Grid is being generous in allowing the City to extend the performance bond. The City expects to complete the work required by spring; and recover some of the Performance Bond premium.
This should not have a material effect on the Resolution adopted by the Council. It may be necessary, however, to have an additional resolution reciting the subsequent work by the City and close out of the Performance Bond once National Grid completes a final inspection of the expected completed work."
