Tree project takes root in city
“A Tree For Thee” project is ready to launch its campaign for trees being planted in the spring at Point Gratiot.
The mission of the Project is to help reforest the carnage and destruction of Ash trees that have been destroyed by the emerald ash borer . By making this a community event, the group is providing the opportunity for anyone in the area to purchase a tree and a memorial plaque to help in this effort. Applications can be picked up at the Dunkirk Public library at the front desk, Dunkirk City Hall in the Clerk’s Office, and at Lake Shore Savings Bank at the Fourth Street location in Dunkirk.
To make it a little bit more convenient, those interested can go through the drive-through banking lanes at Lake Shore Savings and request an application.
All the information needed to process your application is in the envelope and has a March 15 deadline to apply. Any questions can be addressed via the information on the application. The memorial plaque that will be staged near the base of the tree, can either be “In Honor Of” or “In Memory Of” an event or person that you wish to memorialize.
In addition to Point Gratiot Park “A Tree for Thee” also is open to the planting of 20 trees at Wright Park.
