Sherman man charged in drug, weapon possession

SHERMAN — A traffic stop by deputies led to possession of a weapon and drug charges on late Monday.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the village at 11:56 p.m. An investigation led to Allan C. Detweiler, 41, being charged with a violation of an order of protection.

Narcotics Investigators were able to acquire a search warrant for Detweiler’s residence. As a result of the search investigators seized 178 grams of methamphetamine, scales and packaging for the sale and distribution of narcotics, a loaded revolver and seven rifles.

Detweiler was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for the Centralized Arraignment Program.
