Festivals Fredonia Easter event a huge success

Festivals Fredonia, Inc, a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers, in partnership with Fredonia First Methodist Church and Family Church Fredonia, hosted the third annual Fredonia Easter Festival on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This family fun event with a pancake breakfast and pictures with Peter Cottontail, was followed by an Egg Hunt for age groups up to age 12, in Barker Common. Over 3,000 colorful eggs filled with treats were distributed in the snow by Festivals volunteers, the SUNY Fredonia Girls Soccer Team and community members.

The pancake breakfast, held 9:00 A.M. to noon at Fredonia First Methodist Church, 25 Church Street, served breakfast to over 200 adults and children. Coffee and donuts were donated by Tim Hortons.

Peter Cottontail was available for photos with his admirers and later was escorted by the Fredonia Fire Department to Barker Common to open the Egg Hunt. The enthusiasm and excitement was apparent when finding the eggs only lasted 10 minutes!

The Darwin R. Barker Museum displayed old time Fredonia photos for breakfast-goers to enjoy. Family Church Fredonia, 19 Church Street, participated by opening its doors for tours of the church.

Festivals Fredonia Easter Festival co-chairs, Michele Joy and Joanne Mansfield wish to acknowledge and thank the volunteers, sponsors and community donations. Fredonia First Methodist Church and Family Church Fredonia donated their facilities for this event.

Thank yous are extended to Fredonia Walmart, Post 59 Fredonia American Legion Auxiliary, Fredonia Beaver Club and members, Tim Hortons, Brooklyn Erick, SUNY Fredonia Girls Soccer Team. Chair Michele Joy added “That’s what teamwork is all about” in thanking all the volunteers. “This is the way to go to further our community events.”

Along with the Fredonia Beaver Club, we would also like to thank our high-level corporate partners, DFT Communications, Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Universal Stainless, for their generosity and continued support.
