Forestville Fire Department called to two fires

The Forestville Fire Department responded to two fires over the weekend.

According to the fire department’s Facebook page, Saturday around 8:30 p.m. volunteers were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Lodi Street in the hamlet. The upstairs of the house was charged with smoke. Trucks arrived and crews established a water supply and entered the residence to find the source of the smoke. Crews worked diligently to find the fire.

After a while, a fire was found behind a wall in a crawl space. According to the department, a faulty electrical line had burned in several different areas. Power had been secured and no other extension was found.

Then around 6 a.m. Sunday, the Forestville Fire Department and mutual aid responded to 4 Rt 39, in the town of Hanover, for a residential fire.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, members from the Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Team responded to assist in determining the origin and cause of the fire. Following the investigation it was determined that a fire occurred within a dishwasher which spread throughout the residence. No injuries were reported.
