Northern Chautauqua Club Associates meets

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their regular monthly meeting at the Kosciuszko Polish Home, Nevins St., in Dunkirk. Club President Lance Christopher welcomed the group.

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased club members.

All Association officers were present, and all member clubs were represented. Secretary Jim Pryll read the minutes of the previous meeting, and treasurer Tom Halicki gave the financial reports for the last 3 months.

Guest speaker was Diane Andrasik, Dunkirk City Historian. She spoke about her new book, “Dunkirk, Then and Now”, which notes 3 important streets in the city, and the buildings of the past and present. The book is filled with many extraordinary photos, and is available at the Dunkirk Historical Society. She also spoke of her great optimism for the future of the city.

Associates President Joe Rozen, made available information sheets for veterans clubs to possibly obtain funding for capital projects. He also spoke of the NYS Military Museum’s website, which is full of interviews of over 1600 veterans detailing their experiences, from World War II to Afghanistan.

The next meeting of the Association will be April 28, 10:30 a.m. at the J. Carter Knapp Post in Forestville. Any club member is welcome to attend.
