Seniors plan dinner, upcoming trips

The Dunkirk Senior Center will be having a Cinco DeMayo Dinner on Sunday, May 5. Doors open at 1 p.m. Dinner consists of Spanish rice, taco, chips and salsa and Mexican sundae for dessert. The cost per member is $5. Tickets are on sale at the Center Office.

The Center is also sponsoring a “Movie & Lunch” on Tuesday, May 21. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The movie will be “Mystic Pizza,” featuring Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. Lunch will consist of pizza, tossed salad and dessert. Tickets go on sale Thursday at the Center Office.

Sign-ups are being conducted for many trips including – Erie shopping trip, May 30; Syrup & Slots, June 10; Windmill Farm & Market, Saturday, Aug. 17; Erie Theater Jukebox Hop, July 2; Theodore Roosevet/Frank Lloyd Wright/Graycliff Tour lunch at Pasquale’s on July 11. Watch the Facebook account and the postings at the Center for more announcements on trips. The Buffalo River Cruise on June 19 is sold out.

The Senior Center will be having a cell phone/tablet class on Wednesday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Call the center office to register for the class. Independent Health will be at the Center on Thursday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer any questions regarding your account. This is open to anyone with an Independent Health Account.

The AARP Defensive Driving Course is being offered at the Center. Sign up by calling the Center at 716-366-7530. The course is May 13 and May 14. Participants must attend both classes. The cost is $25 for an AARP member and $30 if not a member. The course is limited to 30 participants.

The next Big Bingo game will be Wednesday, May 8. Doors open at 4 p.m. with a light dinner being served at 4:30 p.m. Bingo will start at 5 p.m. One must purchase a $2 admission ticket PRIOR to the date of the Bingo game. This ticket is your admission and entitles you to a jackpot card. Social time is held every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Bring a bag lunch and play 25 cent bingo. The birthday lunch for May will be held May 29. Must call the office to register. Pinochle is held Monday and Friday at 1 p.m. Exercise class is Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. MahJongg is Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Tai-Chi is Tuesday and Thursday at 3 p.m. Dominoes is Wednesday at 1 p.m. Hand and Foot Card Game is Friday at 1 p.m.
