Gowanda High School celebrates Honor Society inductees

GOWANDA — Gowanda High School feted nine members of the junior class and one senior at its annual National Honor Society Induction ceremony and presentation of graduation achievement awards in the auditorium. The inductees were recognized in front of loved ones, district staff and the current senior NHS members.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025’s Molly Bowers, Holland Browning, Gracie Eddy, Caitlyn Gangi, Jillian Gernatt, Tessa Kohn, Danielle Krajewski, Winter Rivera, Demetra Spire and the Class of 2024’s Makayla Kuras on joining the ranks of the prestigious NHS.

Current members are Aiden Ackley, Alivia Capozzi, Hailey Christopher, Aubrie Heron, Alaina Kaczmarczyk, Ella Luther, Madilyn Pawlak, Autumn Pupo, and Christina Wilder.

NHS President Christopher kicked off the ceremony with the call to order. Welcome remarks were offered by GHS Principal Rebekah Moraites before NHS member Pupo led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Four senior NHS officers gave an overview of the values necessary for NHS induction. Secretary Heron discussed service, Treasurer Capozzi talked about scholarship, President Christopher gave an overview of leadership, and Vice President Luther covered character.

During the candlelit ceremony, each inductee signed a commitment form, lit a candle and then recited the NHS pledge in unison, led by NHS member Kaczmarczyk. Closing remarks were offered by NHS member Pawlak.

GHS teachers and NHS advisers Kathryn Haim and Paula Ondus facilitated the ceremony, which was followed by a celebratory dinner in the cafeteria.
