Gowanda observed Arbor Day on April 26, by planting 10 trees in the village. Last year the village was named a Tree City USA for the 21st year by the Arbor Day Foundation. Here, volunteers assist a highway department crew to plant an Autumn Blaze Maple in Gateway Park. Other species planted were Callery Pear and Japanese Lilac.
