Memorial Day events planned in county

Here is a listing of some of the Memorial Day events taking place in Chautauqua County:

— Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse and Veterans Park Memorial Day service

1 Point Drive N., Dunkirk, 8:30 a.m.Co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

— Busti Memorial Day parade. Begins at the Tap House, Busti-Sugar Grove Road, 9 a.m. For those interested in marching, former servicemen and women and those serving now should meet at the site before 9 a.m. Music by the Southwestern Central School Band. Service with Pastor Ed Moore and Pastor Roy Ferguson at the Gazebo between the firehall and cemetery. Free public breakfast by the Fure Dept. and Ladies Auxiliary after the service.

— Leon Memorial Day parade. At 9 a.m., followed by the Military Honor roll saluting and honoring Leon’s service men and women at the gazebo. Stop at the church to see photos of the servicemen and women.

— Sons of American Legion Squad 59 Memorial Day service, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, 11 a.m.

— Bemus Point Memorial Day parade. See www.visitbemuspoint.com for details.

— Findley Lake Memorial Day parade and service. A 9:30 a.m. parade, followed by a special program at the Litz Family Memorial Gazebo in downtown.

— Jamestown Memorial Day parade begins at 10 a.m., Blue Star Mothers will oversee the Memorial service at the Lakeview Cemetery.

— Dunkirk Memorial Day service and parade. Service at Memorial Park, Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk at 10 a.m., conducted by Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council, coordinated by Jack Sievert, with John D’Agostino as Master of Ceremonies. Parade at 11 a.m. proceeds east on Lake Shore Drive West to Central Avenue, right on Central Avenue, south to Fifth Street, then turns east and disbands at Washington Park.

— Forestville Memorial Day parade — Downtown Forestville, 10 a.m. Parade ends with services at the American Legion grounds, 6 Cedar St. Speaker: Marine Corps Lt. Ryan Deas. Doug Allen will perform patriotic songs. 21 gun salute. Hot dogs, refreshment by Forestville Food Pantry.

— Cassadaga Memorial Day parade, 11 a.m.
