Fredonia Garden Club celebrates century mark

The Fredonia Garden Club will hold a celebration on Saturday afternoon in Barker Commons Park to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. The festivities commence at noon with a welcome and refreshments. A floral arrangement presentation with Shaun Lord begins at 1 p.m., then Birding with John and Bev Ruska follows at 2 p.m. Robin Carr will present The Importance of Native Plants at 3 p.m., which is followed by a question and answer session, drawings, and closing remarks. Senator George Borrello is among the guests expected to attend the event. As stated on the Fredonia Garden Club’s Facebook page, the Club’s objectives are “to stimulate interest in horticulture, to develop an appreciation of nature, to preserve wildlife and the environment, to encourage community beautification and to conserve natural resources.” For more information about the Garden Club and upcoming events, follow the Club on Facebook.
