WESTFIELD – The Lake Erie Grape Discovery Center in Westfield announces the annual fundraising Grape Belt Open golf tournament takes place Aug. 17 at Green Meadows Golf Course, 2451 N. Brickyard Rd., North East, Pa. This is the first year at Green Meadows, an 18-hole course, which allows for additional teams to participate and showcases another region of the Lake Erie Grape Belt.

Teams fill up quickly, so act now and sign up. Registration and payment is due no later Aug. 9. A registration form can be found on the Grape Discovery Center’s Facebook page. The Grape Discovery Center is excited to announce this year’s partnerships for the annual Grape Belt Open. The tournament is being presented by Westfield Ag & Turf, a major supplier of farm essentials and equipment for the surrounding area (formerly LaPorte Farm Equipment). Another new partner this year is Jack’s Welding and RD Design & Development LLC. Westfield Ag & Turf is sponsoring the Hole-In-One prize, a new compact utility tractor.

Golfers get hungry, and they love to win prizes, so the committee thanks the following Food & Entertainment sponsors: Five & 20 Spirits & Brewing, Howard Hanna Holt Realty, Mecca Electric Service, Merritt Winery, Speedy’s Storage, and Willow Creek Winery. Without their generosity, tasty treats, food, beverages and prizes would not be possible.

Sign in begins at the course at 8:15 on Aug. 17 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The tournament is an 18-hole, four-person scramble. Teams can choose the “Corporate Sponsor” level for $375 that includes 4 players, refreshments at the turn and dinner for 4, game packs for the team and sign recognition on the course. The “Golf Only” option includes refreshments at the turn, dinner and game packs for each golfer ($80/player; $320 for the team.)

Local businesses and friends can support the Concord Grape Belt Heritage Association/Grape Discovery Center by being a “Tee Sponsor.” Tee sponsors are available at the $75 level and can advertise a business. A tee sponsor is also a great way to honor an individual (a recent graduate perhaps) or be in honor or memory of a friend or relative. Tee sponsorship information is also included on the registration form. Donations of gift cards and other items are appreciated and placed in the table raffle that adds another fun aspect to the tournament.

The tournament is the Grape Discovery Center’s major fundraiser. All proceeds fund the operation of the Center, allowing the Center to continue to operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Its mission is to serve as a tourist information center, encouraging tourism and educating visitors about the grape growing history of the Lake Erie Region.
