The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held their monthly meeting at the Legion Post, Tuesday, June 11 with 16 senior members attending. Chaplain Paula Pattison reported she has sent sympathy and get-well cards to Legion Family members, and we held one funeral luncheon for a Unit 1280 member’s family. Membership chairperson Sally Lawson noted there are still a few Unit 1280 members not paid for 2024. Lauren Sharp reported a successful Poppy season, and thanked everyone that volunteered their help. In spite of the rain on Memorial Day, respects were paid to all of our fallen soldiers. The Cassadaga ceremony was held in the Legion Hall, with a nice community attendance. Unit 1280’s famous Bake Sale at the first Sons of the Legion’s Cruise-Night in May was very successful. Cruise Nights that will be held the last Tuesday of the summer months: July 30 and Aug. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Auxiliary will need pies and goodies to sell at these events. Lawson reminded everyone that Cassadaga’s “National Night-out” will be Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6 to 8 p.m. at the John Fessenden ballfields, in Cassadaga. At this point of the Unit 1280 meeting, the installation of the Unit 1280 2024-2025 officers was performed by past County Auxiliary President, Patricia Hayward. The new slate of officers is, from left: President, Ranee Kaus; 1st Vice President Charyle Tyler; Secretary, Carol Baker, Treasurer, Sue DeGolier; Chaplain Paula Pattison; Sgt-at-Arms, Lynn Moeller; we also set our committee chairpersons.
