Dunkirk Historical Society sets summer hours

The Dunkirk Historical Museum will be closed the rest of this week as it operates the railroad display at the Chautauqua County fairgrounds. Starting Monday, July 22, the museum will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please call the museum at 716-366-3797 should there be a need to possibly visit at other times.

NCCR seeking donations for yard sale

WESTFIELD – Who doesn’t love a good yard sale? One of the best fundraisers for Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is coming up. The 12th Annual Dog-Gone Good Yard Sale is happening July 26, 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shelter at 7540 N. Gale St. in Westfield.

Donations for the sale will be accepted until Sunday, July 21 every day from 1-3 p.m. If you’ve been before, you know there are wonderful items to buy at great prices, and it will be spread out this year into even bigger tents and more space. Watch the website caninerescue.org or the Facebook page for any updates. Anything (except clothing, cribs, mattresses, electronics, computers, broken items, books or child seats) that is in good condition, clean and saleable is very much appreciated.The dogs and pups will benefit.

Fredonia Class ’69 Reunion Set for Aug. 2

The Fredonia High School Class of 1969 will be gathering the weekend of Aug. 2-3 for their 55th High School Class Reunion. Classmates will have the option of exploring the hometown roots by choosing to participate in a number of optional activities by visiting local attractions such as Lily Dale, attending the Wine and Beer Festival or just visiting the local Barker Library Museum or traveling to the National Comedy Center.

Martha and Gary Waage will host the weekend kick off with a picnic lunch at their Cassadaga “camp” starting at 11 a.m. That evening classmates will gather at 64 on the Rocks (reservation required) and the weekend will end with dinner at Shorewood Country Club beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3rd (reservation required).

Interested classmates should contact Judy Oakes or go to the Fredonia Central Class of ’69 Facebook page for additional information. Deadline for reservations is Saturday, July 20.
