Two arrested for narcotics
GOWANDA — Two Gowanda residents have been arrested following a short-term investigation into drug sales in the southern part of Erie County.
Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announced the arrest of Timothy Ward, 46, and Layla Warrior, 23, both of Gowanda. The investigation was led by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit and assisted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Southern Tier Narcotics Task Force and the Village of Gowanda Police Department.
On Wednesday, the Narcotics and Intelligence Unit executed a state search warrant, signed by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case, for the residence at 49 Caroline Road in Gowanda. Entry was made by the SWAT Team.
More than one-eighth of an ounce of suspected fentanyl, more than 1/8 ounces of suspected cocaine, and scales and packaging were recovered from inside the residence. Both Ward and Warrior were detained without incident.
Ward and Warrior were each charged with Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug with Intent to Sell, a Class B Felony; two counts of Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Class C Felony; and two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Ward and Warrior were both transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
