Gowanda Central School District hires new teachers and counselor

GOWANDA — A wave of personnel moves at the Gowanda Central School District featured several teachers and a School Counselor.
The Board of Education approved Lauren McGee, a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, to be appointed as an Elementary Teacher. McGee is certified in Childhood Education Grades 1-6, Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6, and Early Childhood Education Birth through Grade 1. McGee, a Hamburg resident, was most recently a student teacher at Allegany-Limestone Middle School.
Monica Beback filled the Special Education Teacher vacancy of Renee Bauer. An Eden resident, Beback is professionally certified in Early Childhood Education Birth through Grade 2, Childhood Education Grades 1-6, and Students with Disabilities. Beback graduated with a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia and a master’s degree from SUNY Buffalo. She has served as a Special Education Teacher at BOCES in North Collins for the past two years.
Emma Franco fills a new role at the District as a School Counselor, funded by the State’s RECOVS Grant. Franco possesses initial certification as a School Counselor, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education from SUNY Buffalo and a master’s degree from St. Bonaventure University in School Counseling. Franco has been a School Counselor intern at Lake Shore High School and Lancaster Middle School. Additionally, Virginia Stepowski was approved as a School Counselor intern.
The Board also approved the appointment of Mary Ann Tonello as a long-term substitute for the 2024-2025 school year. Susan Rebmann was appointed as a Substitute Teacher. Sherri Malek was appointed as Substitute Teacher/Teaching Assistant/School Monitor.
Several other personnel moves were listed on the agenda at the recent meeting. Edward Bugenhagen resigned as Technology Integration Specialist, instead opting to continue with the District as a Business Teacher. To fill the vacancy his switch created, Megan Radoani took a leave of absence as an Elementary Teacher to serve as Technology Integration Specialist. McGee’s hiring fills Radoani’s vacancy.
Additionally, Anthony Giordano was hired as Information Technology Specialist; Keysean Alexander and Steven Ditchey were appointed as Custodians; Joseph Parisio and Timothy Barrett were appointed as Cleaners; Stacey Fulford was appointed as Teacher Aide; and Amanda Miller was hired as Food Service Helper.
Brooke Browning was appointed as Liberty Partnership Program Tutor for the 2024-2025 school year. Jayson Twoguns was approved as a Cross Country Volunteer Coach, while Steve Maines was approved as a Softball Volunteer Coach.
The District also accepted resignations from Stacey Fulford as Keyboard II Specialist; Gary Dils, Giovanni Gallo, and Amanda Miller as Cleaners; Keysean Alexander as Substitute Cleaner/Custodian; and Mackenzie Alvira as Substitute Teacher/Teaching Assistant/School Monitor.
