Vietnam Veterans to host information meeting
FREWSBURG — In an effort to educate and support the families of all veterans concerning the benefits available to them through the Department of Veterans Affairs, the David L. Woodburn Chapter 978 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will present a Spousal and Survivors Benefits Meeting Saturday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 556 at 9 Meadow Lane.
This program was created to bring awareness to what is currently available to the spouse, widow, widower, and families of all veterans. Federal benefits are constant for everyone; however, state-funded, and local benefits can vary, and these things will be addressed. The Pact Act, Agent Orange and Burn Pits are among the items that will also be discussed.
Presenters will include: U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy; state Sen. George Borello; state Assemblyman Andy Goodell; County Executive PJ Wendel; WNY District VVA Representative Bill Paton; Major (ret) Greg Carlson Chautauqua County Veterans Service Officer; Barbara Cessna of Vets Finding Vets and Honor Flights; Carl Steenburn, Agent Orange Survivor; Cindy Reidi, Project Coordinator, Dwyer Chautauqua County.
Admission is free to all. Veterans, spouses and survivors are invited to attend. Each presenter will speak for 10 to 15 minutes with questions and answers at the end. Light refreshments will be available.
