PORTLAND – A battery pack is being blamed for a fire Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m. multiple fire departments responded to 6996 Route 5 in the town of Portland for a reported structure fire.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team ruled the fire as accidental in nature caused by an overheated lithium ion battery pack. The fire caused minimal damage and was contained to the area of origin. No injuries were reported.
