Cassadaga American Legion Unit 1280 Meets
CASSADAGA – Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 met recently. Unit 1280’s membership is at 100.54% paid for the year, though the post is still taking 2025 dues. The annual Boots on the Ground walkathon will be held Saturday, April 26, at the Cassadaga Legion and cemetery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The walk is a Department of the NY Auxiliary and Son’s of the Legion function, and all proceeds will be split and go to benefit veterans hospitals and clinics and to the Department President’s project, Homeward Bound Adirondack. Anyone interested in walking or donating to this cause can call the Legion at 716-595-3145 for information or show up at the Walk-a-Thon. Ricky Haase reported on the “Grass Roots group” through the American Legion that advocates for veteran issues that come before Congress. The annual rummage and bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Items can be dropped off starting May 10. Poppy chairperson Lauren Sharp is getting ready for the upcoming Poppy Days from May 22-26. Donation cans are being distributed throughout the local communities. Unit members present voted to donate to U-Can-Hope Haven, and the Sinclairville Historical Society’s History Fair. The next unit meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday May 13, at the post.
