Leon Historical Society announces Pennyroyal Racetrack Program events

Home of the Leon Historical Society.
LEON – With excitement and fanfare, the Leon Historical Society would like to announce that they were given a grant by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr Arts and Culture Imitative administered by the Community Foundation of Buffalo, to bring the Pennyroyal Racetrack history to life for the community and visitors. The exhibit features over 70 black and white photos with documentation of the racetrack’s exciting past. We are excited to bring this exhibit to the public. Four Special Presentations will accompany the exhibit along with two books and memorabilia.
Leon Historical Society’s Pennyroyal Racetrack Program Schedule is as follows:
May 3 – Church and museum open for the season, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from now through October.
Featuring the Pennyroyal Racetrack
May 10 – Presentation: ‘Harness Racing, Sport of Farmers’ 2 p.m.
July 19 – Presentation: ‘Race Cars – Jalopies to Hot Rods’ 2 p.m.
Aug. 16 – Leon Town Picnic featuring the Pennyroyal Racetrack, noon, open to the public, bring dish to pass.
Oct. 11 – Presentation: ‘Where Some NASCAR Drivers and Winners Actually Started – Driving to Fame’
