‘No Kings’ march dampened by storm

April 19 commemorated the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The battles of Lexington and Concord were fought on that date in 1775. Local organizers scheduled a “No Kings” March which was to start at the D&F Plaza and end at the pier in Dunkirk. At least 30 marchers gathered there at the plaza, but the weather did not cooperate. At exactly the time the march was to begin, the wind picked up and the rain poured. The wind and possibility of falling branches caused the march to be called off in the interest of safety. Later, some individuals were able to stand at the pier with their signs.
