Organizers plan May Day Strong rally, march
A rally and march is being planned Thursday in Dunkirk.
According to organizers, Thursday has been declared a National Day of Protest for working people to stand up to the billionaire profiteers trying to take over the country. Workers built this nation but continue to have to fight for the rights and freedoms that propel opportunity and a better life for all Americans.
In solidarity with the protests occurring nationally, a local May Day Strong rally and march will be held Thursday May 1 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Participants will gather at the Gazebo in Washington Park in Dunkirk for a pep rally including a speaker, then a one-mile march will proceed to Central Avenue, north to Third, over to Main, and back to the park gazebo. Upon return, there will also be a short program before departing.
The organizers wish to emphasize that this will be a peaceful event. Light rain will not deter the event, but it is recommended that you use your judgment in case of inclement weather.
